Boating in Miami Beach and Biscayne Bay by Boat
Being able to boat Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, or any of the other crystal blue waterways of the greater Miami area will make you realize how close to paradise Florida really is. Boating Miami is like living the ultimate island dream.
Boat owners who live in or visit the Miami area are often amazed at how many different choices are available to them for enjoying a day out on the water. Whether you choose to boat Biscayne Bay, boat Miami Beach, or even make the short trip to the Keys, your options are seemingly endless.
Here are just a few “Must-See” Miami area boating locations:
- Biscayne National Park – If you head out across Biscayne Bay, 20 miles south of the Miami area you’ll find this incredible area that boasts beautiful coral reefs for you to explore. You should be sure to observe the slow speed zones and water depths inside the park, and also be aware of the tides as the waters of the park are very shallow.
- Miami Beach – Unless you live in South Florida, chances are that you mistake Miami Beach and Miami as being the same thing. In fact, when you boat Miami Beach, you are visiting a barrier island that stands between Miami and Atlantic Ocean. The Miami Beach Marina is located on Miami Beach, close to the main ocean access waterway Government Cut. The Miami Beach Marina offers a fuel, a dive shop, restaurants and a supply store.
- John Pennekamp National Underwater Park – This Key Largo famous tourist spot is easily accessible by boat via Hawk Channel and Marina de Mar. For those who love to scuba dive or snorkel, this is an absolute boating Miami area “Must Do.” One of the most famous images associated with the Keys is the “Underwater Statue of the Christ,” located in this one and only I.S. underwater national park.
With so many beautiful waterways, boating Miami is by far one of the most serene and incredible nautical experiences any boat owner can ever have.
